BLUEPLANET trips leave from the town nearest to the launch site.
General Arrival
You will want to be in the nearest town of arrival the day before and overnight in a local hotel or B&B. We will meet in the evening to discuss trip details, check equipment and distribute dry bags to pre-pack for the trip. Our group will rendezvous in the A.M. before heading to the launch site.
Call our office the evening you arrive at your hotel to confirm your arrival location. Prepare for your trip the night before, get to bed early and have a stress free morning with time to enjoy a full breakfast.
Accommodation Considerations We are happy to recommend accommodation options in the towns our trips depart from. This info will be included in the pre-trip information package that is sent to you upon booking a trip or you can discuss with our office.
We are happy to advise you of your best options and assist with any reservations or other travel arrangements that need to be made.
To Vancouver Island by Car
As all Blue Planet trips launch from Nanaimo or north of, we recommend taking the BC Ferry route North of Vancouver from Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay.
Check www.bcferries.com for current schedules and pricing. We strongly recommend their Reserved Boarding service during summer travel to avoid long waits in ferry line-ups. Sailing time is 1 hour 35 min.
To Vancouver Island by Air All major airlines have regular scheduled flights to Victoria International Airport . 30 min shuttle to downtown Victoria . www.aircanada.ca
